The short trip to Mackay

Today we woke to the patter of rain on the roof...so calming except when you are parked in a large somewhat grass field, hoping that you aren't about to get bogged in. From where we were at Marlborough, it was only a short 2 hours & 40 minutes (235km) up the Bruce Highway to Mackay. We had a quick breakfast, then jumped in the car and started on (thankfully without getting bogged). This patch of road is long and bare...there is nothing much along the way, for a long, long time until you swing east and all of a sudden see the blue ocean at #Clairview. We pulled into the side road at #Clairview for morning tea. Check out this footage of the amazing Queensland coastline...

We were running ahead of time, so found a quaint cafe called #FlaggyRock Cafe. Here we had a coffee and sat by their lovely dam at the back before heading onto Sarina.

In at Sarina we found an nearly empty carpark down the side road to park, that backed right onto the rail line. The kids spent the lunch time watching the trains shunt back and forth into the Sugar Mill that Sarina is famous for. If you are ever travelling through Sarina, I can recommend a tour at the #SarinaSugarMill. We did one last year & it was very educational.

After lunch we headed onto #MackayDiscoveryPark that will be home for the next three nights while I catch up with some of my beautiful customers & check out the local sights. Dinner was yummo Zucchini & Feta Frittas. Check out the video to see how that are made.

If you have any recommendations on what we need to check out in Mackay, let me know. See you next time ~Lisa Keegan~
