The Road to Gumlu

So today was moving day & we were just heading a few more hours north. We decided to stop at our favourite coffee shop on the outskirts of Bowen, the #LeSorelleTheSisters. If you are ever travelling north on the Bruce Highway, please take the 10minute detour to grab a coffee. It is a beautiful cafe, that always greets you with a smile, and treat you like family. Every time we have stopped (twice last year & now this time) they are genuinely interested in saying hi, having a chat & they serve great coffee. They also have a yummy cabinet of fancy doughnuts & cronuts, plus a great wall of fudge delights & many other gift type items.

After the stop over we headed onto #Gumlu where are free camping behind the local pub for the evening. If you ever wonder what free camping is....it is maybe not what you think. It is like one big open field (think local showgrounds), with self-contained caravans, motorhomes, vans that roll in after lunchtime & usually leave at the crack of dawn (except us - we are slow starters & usually the last to leave). I know when I first was planning the trip, free camps were not something I felt confident to use & wondered how safe they were. However, now after a few stays, it is really no fuss, completely safe & feels way more spacious and enjoyable then some crammed in caravan parks we have stayed at. I am excited to find some more hidden gems as we venture around over the coming weeks.

Dinner tonight was Feta & Avocado Smash on the yummy Zucchini Frittas (I made these last week as well & you can find the video here). I based the Smash tonight on the Avocado & Goats Cheese Smash recipe on Cookidoo so if you would like to see how it is done, check it out below.

Enjoy the video & see you tomorrow ~Lisa~
