Do you know how easy it is to make gluten and dairy free meals and snacks with the Thermomix? It is so tasty that no one even knows they are Gluten and Dairy free - how good is what. Check out the videos on Facebook and Youtube and download the recipe card below and give them a go.
Gluten and Dairy Free Thermomix Tips
Thankfully gluten free options have expanded over the past five years and there are many gluten free flours and well labelled products on the shelves. If you are gluten free, or maybe just cooking for someone who is, always check labels. For us, most recipes it is an easy swap with standard suprmarket Gluten Free Flour. The exception to this is bread. You will be sadly dissapointed trying to swap in GF flour in these recipes. My tip here is to find some of the amazing GF bread recipes on cookidoo and use these. I have put my top 4 GF recipes below and you can see in the video how I have tweeked them - you will love them!!
Dairy Free
This is easier than you most people think. It is as simple as swapping in coconut milk, or your favourite nut milk in place of cows milk, and you are good to go. At times you will notice the biscuits, slices or cake are not as browned as usual coming out of the oven, but a sprinkle of cocoa or icing sugar and no one will ntoice. Cheeses can make it challenging, but check out the videos from this series, as I cover how you can get the cheesy taste with other ingredients such as nutritional yeast. When it comes to butter; coconut oil is a great substitute when you need it in a solid state. However, if the recipe is calling for melted butter, an oil like grapeseed or sunflower can be used. If you ever get stuck and are not sure what to use - reach out as I am happy to help.
Tea Bread is amazing and you would never know it is Gluten Free.
Gluten Free breads & wraps
These are my favourite and simple GF and usually DF (you might need to do some swaps as mentioned above).
Artisan Gluten Free Bread (I do this in a loaf tin but have made it into breadrolls in this video)
Grain Free Gluten Free Breadrolls (made into Hot Cross Buns in this video)
Chia and Pepita Gluten Free Loaf (in this video I made it into pizza bases)
Give these recipes on the download a go - print them out and put them on the fridge for inspiration when you need them.
I am always happy to hear from you, what you are making and if you need support with anything. Happy Thermomixing until next time - Lisa Keegan
